Our recent Spring Turkey Hunt to Missouri and Kansas was a complete success. Although we had some Wx challenges with some heavy rain on two days and several days when the wind was 30-40, we still managed to get our tags filled. We saw or heard turkeys each day even on the worst Wx days.

We left SC at 0300 hrs on a Friday, drove straight through to western Missouri and hunted the next morning. Got on turkeys at daylight and was able to harvest the first bird within the first hour. Then it started to rain, my partner put on his rain gear and set up in a pasture and called for the rest of the morning, at 1230 the old boy showed up and he completed the deal. What a great start. We then drove over to our most western point in Kansas to start our Kansas hunt. We encountered some severe winds but stuck with the task at hand. Hard to imagine you could be crosswind or upwind of a turkey at 150 yards and see him gobbling with his head motion but never hear the gobble. However, after several hours was able to get the bird within range, although probably more luck than calling ability.

We hunted hard and after five days of only getting an average of 5-6 hours of sleep due to the early mornings and the late evenings (didn't get back to the motel until about ten pm due to daylight running to almost nine o'clock) we filled our last Kansas tag and headed back to MO. We managed to get our MO birds in two days and we headed home exactly seven days after arriving in MO for the first day's hunt. We were prepared to stay another three days but all our tags were filled and the deer scouting complete.

The good part was all the birds taken were mature birds plus we saw plenty of jakes which means next year should be good! Again, thanks for the support and the outstanding hunt and the opportunity to conduct some serious deer scouting for the upcoming Fall deer season.
