Proud Father
Dear Jon, Members and Staff: This spring the most incredible thing happened to me in all my 11 years of membership in our hunting club. As you know, I have hunted several pieces of land both in Kansas and Missouri. I have been successful in taking many turkey, deer, pheasant and quail. When I joined, as well as now, my main criteria for remaining a member was growth. At the time that I joined, I believe that we had approximately 100,000 acres enrolled. The CRP program was just underway and hunting was good. Today, our club is at over 200,000 acres in 3 states, the CRP program is in approximately its 12th year and the wildlife populations have never been better. We are truly living "the good ole days" of hunting here in the Midwest. You have really done a great job of running the club Jon and my hat is off to you. This past spring, the Missouri Department of Conservation set up a youth spring turkey hunting season. This was such an incredible opportunity for the youth to hunt huge flocks of unharassed birds. It was a great experience for my son and me both. My 14-year-old son harvested his first bird on the first day of this special season. It was a huge 24 lb tom with 1 1/8" spurs, a great trophy. My son was a very proud young hunter and I was a very proud parent. However, my anticipation and excitement for my own hunt was diminished and overshadowed by the pride, happiness and excitement of my son. That was truly a day I will never forget. I want to thank you for giving my son and me the opportunity to have this rewarding and unforgettable experience. Once again I would like to commend you on all of your hard work and dedication over the years. Keep up the good work AND the leases!!! Let's go hunting some time!!!! Happy Hunting, Mike Hagen
