Many Turkey, Many Hunters, Much Hunting - a truism practiced by most MAHA self guided hunters.

We have this wealth of turkey photos within our gallery due to the long season, many birds, a lot of land and our approach to managed self guided turkey hunts. Even though it is managed hunting each turkey hunter hunts on his own on 100% natural birds. The management aspect is control of hunter pressure through hunter separation and not hunting consecutive days on any one lease.

While this Association does endeavor to allocate memberships to those that demonstrate the best of ethics, any group has 1% of its members that account for 90% of the group's rules. For the vast majority who read our Association's rules it may appear to be a listing of common sense issues that may seem unnecessary to print. However, there is always that 1% that will test us and the rules are the mechanism for their dismissal.

Hunters that initially join the Association as individual members may upgrade to family memberships when family members become viable hunters. Upgrades include paying the difference in the initiation fee from when the member originally joined to the current family initiation fee and the same difference for the annual dues.

A viable hunter family member is one that will harvest game. Children carrying a BB gun may accompany the member at no charge. Non-hunting wives may accompany the member at no charge.

Darrell took the time to compose a very fine picture of an opening day tom.

Via email: Nice start to Kansas turkey season. Nice bird with 10" beard on opening day of the first hour. Weather little cool, but bird worked pretty good. Thanks, Darrell
