A Kansas flock on winter wheat during the first week in April archery only spring turkey season.

Tough hunt not just due to archery equipment. The boss hen is taking the toms and flock with her across the field ignoring both call and decoy of the setup.

Photo taken of a flock of birds working a green wheat field in the evening. We track what we see through the year so we may recommend to our first year members where to hunt for what they are after.

From a well experienced member that travels a bit more than most. He places out game cameras when he hunts and scouts. This picture came well after the close of spring season in August when placing out his deer stands.

These came from a Missouri lease while on a land run after spring turkey season. The same tom in both pictures below.

Association turkey hunter Joe Steve graciously sent in these live turkey pictures taken while pre-season scouting.

The picture above is of Eastern Turkeys on a large creek watershed. Joe sent the picture as a digital and when we enlarged it we could count 69 turkeys in the field and along the far wood edge.

The turkeys above are Rio Grande Turkeys from the western half of Kansas. There were more turkeys than what was pictured. Joe was smart in that after identifying their location moved out of the area planning a return turkey hunt. This lease is prime turkey habitat as it is the only grain crop farm locally surrounded by pasture. The grass hills offer nesting and the lightly wooded drainage the roosts trees. This open terrain is very common to the Rio Grande Turkey range. This flock as well as the Eastern Turkey flock in the picture above have been anchored to these two turkey hunting leases for the past 7 years (easterns) and 4 years (rios).
