BasicsMid-America Hunting Association turkey hunts are wild turkeys on natural terrain without feeders or fence for self guided fair chase turkey hunting experience most desired by experienced turkey hunters.
Our hunts are on existing wild flocks for the Eastern and Rio Grande Turkey on land we lease for our exclusive use in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. What we bring to the hunter beyond the private land we lease is the knowledge of where to hunt. This now makes our effort two part.
The first is to secure the right habitat within the right region of the state with reproductive sustainable flocks and then the second part is to pass that knowledge on to our hunters. The hunter then hunts on his own on a self guided or a do it yourself hunt. We simply make that hunt all the more possible by providing the land and then the recommendations of where to hunt.
We essentially take the mystery out of where to hunt, make the land with the habitat avaible and then the hunter will make his own success. While it is simple, the tough part we overcome for many hunters is that knowledge of where to park the truck, step out and hunt. Getting over that hump allows the hunter to hunt rather than exercise trail and error until hitting the right locality for a good hunt. That is all there is to it, just hunting. And, that simplicity keeps our costs down. We do not have a lodge mortgage or Jacuzzi heating bill to pay. That savings is passed on to the hunter and can not be easily compared to most other day hunt operations that cost more for a three day hunt than our costs for the entire season.

Do It YourselfThrough our approach we have the expectation the hunter has the skills necessary to make a successful hunt. The first of these skill expectations is the ability to scout.
Pre turkey hunt scouting is required even in light we can get that hunter to a farm that has the right roost, strutting, feeding and nesting habitat to make for a good spring season hunt. Finding that exact spot for a set up is the hunter’s responsibility. This is typically satisfied by “roosting” the flock the evening before a morning hunt. After that knowing where the strutting and feeding areas are and later in the season the nesting areas will allow the hunter to interdict the flock’s daily movement pattern.
The next skill is the ability to camouflage. This may all seem elementary at this point and a needless discussion however, our approach is frequently a new concept to many and taking this extra effort to distinguish between what we provide and the expectations of the hunter makes for a more sound relationship. In terms of camouflaging the hunter must provide his own be it simply clothing or a blind manmade or natural. Calling skill is the last element the hunter needs to provide himself. Having his own calls and knowing which to use is his domain exclusively. We are not in the training or give hunting advice mode at all. Our organization exists for the execution phase of the hunt.
MAHA HuntingThis one small package discussion cover the salient points of our wild turkey hunting. We essentially put the hunter in the right locality of wild turkeys and the hunter must do the rest without help of a field guide, feeders, waterers or any other manmade inducement to provide a predictable appearance by a trophy tom.
Good turkey hunting to all!
